On the occasion of Ember's 1+1 day (1 year + 1 day old) today, she wishes to inform you that chicken is tasty, sardines are even better, and a little green salad is a nice treat.

She has survived a year of Apocapuppy duties, and will happily continue. -=^_^=-

You need some Pom time, don't you?

... I thought so.

Let Ember show you all her tricks... )

So hey. Haven't done a pupdate in a while, eh?

Ember is still growing, in fits and starts. Usually her body gets longer first and we tease her about being a weiner-pom. :) then we sing the grow your head and legs song to the tune of kiro's alarm. She's up to 7 and a quarter pounds.

As mentioned previously (not digging up link while on phone) we've put Ember on a raw food diet. So far, it has all the benefits advertised and is considerably cheaper than the kibbles she would turn her nose up at after a couple days. She gets bored with food that isn't interactive. Only downside is that our balcony is now greasy and all the dogs think Ember smells RLY interesting so she has to keep warning them to lay off the face sniffing.

I forget what else i was going to say.

Anyone who claims they've written a 60k novel on a bberry while commuting is either a liar or a masochist. Or both. :0

By way of [personal profile] cofax7:

When I write a story, what do you immediately look for?

(Out of curiosity, not that I expect to get many (any?) answers. :P)

In other news, Ember continues to be adorable and frequently mistaken for a mini-mini-Collie pup. ^_^ Also, she is currently trying a raw food diet of chicken. Nom nom.

Is this not the face that launched a thousand ships?

I think it is. *nod*

That is Ember, freshly post bath. And if you have not seen it, this (video) is how Ember dries off after a bath. (Video is of previous to this one bath, not most recent.)

And why did she need a bath? Because we went to the beach on Simcoe Day! )

Lap Fox in a Sunbeam

And for those not-so-sunny days:

We have otherwise resisted buying her clothes. (The slinky silver "dress" for being Fabulous Dahling! is Bébé's bandana, repurposed and MacGuyer-ized by Kiro.)

1 - I broke 30k on Carnival last night! Woohoo! Only 620 new words added, but it got me over a roadblock, so yay!

2 - Ember has decided that she will 'beg' by offering tail-biting spins with a play growl. IDEK. It's cute, but it's still begging. >.>

3 - We had one day of summer! Now it is Fall again. *sigh* With lilacs. I hate lilacs. (I am quite allergic to them, so don't bother trying to convince me how great they look/smell.)

4 - Do I have to work today? I don'wanna. :p

First, we went walking down along the lakeshore, and Ember trailblazed for us. No fear of dandelions twice her height!

Cut to spare your bandwidth - although these are all short (less than 2min) vids )

So guess who managed to figure out how to origami her Cone of Shame out of the way by stretching out a rear foot and biting it, then pulling said foot in against her shoulder to crumple the cone, until she could get her chin over the edge of it to hold it out of the way?

Ah yup. >.<

Kiro improvised a stiffer cone out of an Ikea placemat (no, I'm not kidding XD he MacGuyers things regularly - our leash even has a separate loop for holding the poop-bag dispenser).

Right. Clever dog is d00m, yes.

Tuesday it was spaying + micro-chipping + tooth extractions. And home in a sock-turtleneck.

Wednesday it was back to vet for dx of fleas (which she did not have on Tuesday).

Today? Discovered that she'd been wedging her head in through the leg of her sock-turtleneck and had managed to lick her wound and extract not one, but TWO of her stitches. So it was back to the vet.

THIS is the result. And it's all her fault. )

Ember has fleas.

How? No one knows. The vet is puzzled*, as are we. But she gets to start her Revolution early, and Rufus gets two "acute" response doses, and we should be fine.

Right. We were going to buy a vacuum anyway. *sigh*

*ETA: Explaining, as Kiro has pointed out I left out info again: the vet is puzzled because it is too early for outdoor fleas. It has been too cold for them to get started. AND they didn't find any, or any sign of them, yesterday, when they shaved her belly, one front leg, and a back paw, before her surgery. So yeah. WTF fleas.

More here (use the "newer" button).

Ember was spayed today and is recovering well. She's not too keen on her turtleneck, though. (Use the "play" button from this link). And she has to wear it for 10 days! She doesn't know how much better it is than the Cone of Shame. :p
