Halloween meme! from folks on DW, via [livejournal.com profile] lady_ganesh and elsewhere.

Fic or Treat!
  • Leave a comment with a fandom, pairing, character and/or prompt.
  • Multiple requests are okay (but as options rather than a shopping list).
  • You will get something, either a fic or a treat!
  • For the purposes of this meme, Destruct-o Pup and assCat are totally a fandom. ^_~

Fics: Enough to tell a story, I promise you that much.
Treats: Pics! or links, or recs.

Talk to me, people! Even if we haven't chatted much in a while. Use this as an excuse to spam up my inbox! Please. It's lonely. :(

Ideal fandoms are probably Saiyuki... and um. er. Maybe Fringe? Well. >.> Let's say anything from my tags is fair game. (and yes, that includes origi-fic, too)

Kiro may have found the funnest pattern ever (if you can work in cotton or acrylic):

Wishy Washy Fishy Tawashi*!

(Also available here on Ravelry.)

I've done two already. It's super-easy: only knits and purls, no increases or decreases or anything. Just some stripes colorwork which proves that using two colors alternating is not that hard, RLY!

Try it. You'll love it. ^_^

*Tawashi is the Japanese word for "scrubber". I use mine for my nightly face exfoliating, but Kiro wants one to scrub the pots with and make washing dishes more fun. ^_~

Dyed batch round 2. Formerly Dream in Color's Lipstick Lava - overdyed with green food colouring.
Didn't turn out like I hoped, but is a funky colour nontheless.

Saints were the Pokémon of the Middle Ages. - Abi Sutherland

Pokemon amuses me because it was invented BEFORE we found that young humans are pretty much hardwired to want to, at a certain developmental stage, become obsessive experts about some corpus of data with 100-250 records, each record having 2-15 attributes/datapoints. - Elliot Mason

On the twelfth day of Christmas, nekonexus sent to me...
Twelve dogs drumming
Eleven dragons piping
Ten computers a-leaping
Nine books dancing
Eight words a-ranting
Seven cats a-writing
Six metaphysics a-reading
Five alte-e-e-ernate realities
Four rob thomas
Three chow chows
Two other worlds
...and a transgender in an urban fantasy.
Get your own Twelve Days:

....Four Robs? that much perfectionist is too much for one dimension, so good thing I have five alternate realities! ^_~

In 2009, nekonexus resolves to...
Go writing three times a week.
Eat more books.
Go to the wordgasms every month.
Keep my fiction clean.
Buy new rob thomas.
Apply for a new playstation.

Are these not the cutest knitted things ever, I ask you? -=^__^=-

(yes, as a matter of fact, it is my next project. what makes you ask? ^_~ )
nekonexus: (coffee)
Out of all the many and varied survey companies I have signed up with, the one I like best is Global Test Market.

Why? Because in the course of two years, I have cashed out my points earned from surveys twice -- for $60 and $100 respectively.

One (1) MarketPoint = $0.05 US. Yes, five cents per point. You can request a cheque/check as soon as you have $20 worth. It adds up quick.

You also get points for referring people, so if anyone would like a referral - let me know your email addy. It's a win-win situation. ^_~

Now to add my survey-earned cash to the wedding fund.

ETA: They do accept members from pretty much anywhere in the world (their country list is extensive). I can't vouch for number of surveys sent to other countries, but it is quite good for us Canadians! And if they can't pay out in your local currency, they will send a cheque in US dollars.

Home Roast

May. 13th, 2008 08:38 pm
nekonexus: (Zuko - smirk)
Roasting coffee beans at home may not be the funnest thing evah, but it certainly makes the kitchen (and environs) smell like yummy coffee for the day! And fresh-roasted beans are much less bitter than anything you'll get from a coffee shop (unless they roast on site).

Here's how you do it:

  1. Acquire green coffee beans. Look for some place like The Merchants of Green Coffee or The Green Beanery (the latter will ship to the States and elsewhere, too).

  2. Disable your smoke detector. Why? you might ask. This is a very good question. )

1 - The Matchbox Twenty concert was awesome. Yus. ^_^ And today, I will listen to it again. Legally. Bwahahaha.

2 - Plato is the only source you need for just about everything. My offhand comment to a coworker yesterday ("it's only illegal if you get caught") reminded him of this in his "Ethics and Privacy" class notes.

3 - ... it's snowing again. *sob*
